Drag a box, or click to take a whole window. Annotate with nine tools. Pin the result above everything, or lift the text straight out of it. Nothing touches the network — the entitlements don't allow it.

01Capture
Hover a window and it's outlined automatically — menu bar and status-bar icons included. Hold ⇧ to grab several at once, each with a composed shadow.
02Annotate
Rectangle, ellipse, line, arrow, pencil, pixelate, text, step, highlight. Realised the frame is too small? Drag its edge — everything already drawn stays exactly put.
03Pin
⌘P lifts a capture above all windows. Zoom it, dim it, keep it where you're working — even after you switch into a full-screen app.
04Read the text
Screenshots people send you, video subtitles, dialog boxes. ⌘E extracts it on-device; ⇧⌘E translates. Nothing leaves your Mac.
And two small things it does well
Press C under the magnifier. Most Macs render Display P3 — raw pixels pasted into CSS drift. SnipDot converts, and tells you it did.
Six presets add padding, rounded corners and a drop shadow in one click. G cycles them — no editor needed.
What it refuses
Every line below is a decision, not an omission.
The sandbox entitlements contain no networking capability at all. Not “we promise not to” — it literally cannot. You can check the signature yourself.
Captures live in your clipboard. ⌘S opens a save panel and asks where. Most screenshots' life ends at paste; there's no reason to pile up a folder of junk.
The single most fragile feature in this category — dynamic content, textured backgrounds and fast scrolling all break the stitching. We'd rather do less, reliably.
Thirteen toolbar slots, eight settings. That's the ceiling, and it's the standing answer to every future feature request.
Shortcuts
Press ⌥A to bring it up — then drag to box-select, or click to take a window.

Terminology follows macOS itself, not a dictionary — so when SnipDot walks you to a system setting, the words match what you'll see there.
